New York is For Lovers

Can you be best friends with someone you just met? Love at first sight is real, because the moment I met these two for their New York couples session, I knew that they were officially some of my new favorite humans. Their laughter was contagious, and it instantly felt like we’d been friends for years. This was the best way to experience New York. Of course, I had to whip out the film camera. Here are a few of my favorites from that batch. The film manages to make everything feel a bit more gritty, but also soft at the same time. It’s a cool juxtaposition that feels appropriate for New York. Here are just a few of my favorite film scans.

This New York couples session was something on my photography bucket list. And it definitely measured up to the expectations. Living on the West coast, New York seems like an entirely different world in some ways. Even just seeing the skyline, you realize that there is nothing like it back home. You don’t really understand the magnitude of a skyscraper until you stand at the base of one. It makes you feel small in an entirely different way. I’m always fascinated by the people watching in big cities like this too. There is such an array of people from all walks of life, it’s impossible to not be in awe of the differences and similarities in each person’s experience.

Back to my couple! These babes were an absolute blast to work with! They had me laughing the entire time. You can basically hear the laughter through their gallery. Their love was so fun, and real, and deep, and it was an absolute honor to be able to experience New York with these two and see it through their eyes.
