couple eloping in santorini, destination wedding photographer

Santorini Wedding

I believe this to be true, a wedding in Santorini is what dreams are made of.

Allison and Zack are two people who I have grown to love with all of my heart. We first started chatting almost 2 years before their wedding in Santorini. We didn’t start with the plan to fly across the world, but we ended up there and I can’t imagine them getting married any other way now.

When Allison first reached out, they had been in talks with having a 200 person wedding at a very popular large wedding venue in Downtown Seattle. After looking at all of their costs that would come with just the venue alone before any other vendors were booked, Allison threw out the idea of eloping in Greece and making a trip out of it. Zack said… why not? They ended up spending 1/4th of what they would have in the states, while also still having a GORGEOUS venue wedding, paying for dinners, a full service planner, florist, a photographer, and so much more. Can you even imagine that?

Every time a couple has a fear about going somewhere the calls to their soul, I remind them that if people want to be there, they will be. And boy was that the case. They sent off 40+ invites expecting to get a few back, and almost every person made the trip across the world to watch these two say I DO!

We started the weekend off having a welcome dinner at a local restaurant on the coastline of Greece. To say it was the perfect setting to start the celebration would be underselling the beauty. As the sun set, everyone drank wine and made little toasts to the couple. It was magic.

A slow morning together

Allison and Zack opted to relax in bed, drink coffee, and take a dip in their plunge pool to start their wedding day. I am a huge proponent to spending as much time together that you can on your wedding day.

Time to get ready!

These two opted for no first look and so we were off to the ceremony to get them married. But first, a few details to really showcase how INSANE the view was from their wedding. They also had a live watercolor artist that painted portraits of all of the guests as they entered. That is my new favorite thing!!!!

Let’s get these two married!

They had a traditional celebrant of greece marry them so they could have a marriage certificate stamped and signed in Greece. It was such a fun and amazing touch. Their ceremony was short and sweet, just how they wanted it.

And then they were soul tied.

The rest of this blog is going to be photos that I personally love from their sunset portraits through their reception. If this hasn’t convinced you to reach out and plan your wedding abroad, I don’t think anything ever will. You can have a dream day with your people in a place like this for less than what you will pay for a large wedding in the states. I promise you that. You can also have your dream day in the states and it will be just as beautiful. The point is, you can do whatever you want and set your mind to.

If you want help planning a destination wedding, I would LOVE to help you. Just say hi.
